Fabrication is a broader term that refers to any number of manufacturing processes used to create a final product, such as prototyping, cutting, machining, or assembly.

Types of Welding

At Chapter 2 Incorporated, our welding specialists provide three types of welding services. Each process is different and works best in specific applications.

MIG Welding

​Metal inert gas (MIG) welding continuously feeds a metal wire into the area where the two pieces are being joined. An electric arc is formed between this consumable wire and the workpiece, which melts the wire to create a weld pool of filler material that joins the two objects. MIG welding is sometimes called Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW).

TIG Welding

Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding relies on an inert gas, such as helium or argon, to provide an inert atmosphere in the weld area. The welding heat is generated via an electric arc between a non-consumable tungsten electrode and the workpiece. Using filler material is optional in TIG welding, but if it is used it must be added separately since the tungsten electrode doesn’t melt. TIG welding is often automated. This method may also be referred to as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).

Robotic Welding

Robotic welding is a general term that refers to any welding process performed by a robot. Robotic welding components and accessories include positioners, controllers, sensors, and peripherals. Robotic welding is ideal for repeatably creating precise and reliable welds.

Aluminum Welding

While aluminum welding is not in itself a process, it is worth noting here because it is often difficult to find a service provider that can handle welding for this material. The melting point of aluminum is much lower than that of steel, so the welding process is much more delicate. Aluminum takes a long time to heat up, but it also takes a long time to release heat once it is heated. As such, the current control provided by TIG welding makes it the ideal method to weld aluminum without overheating the workpiece.

CNC Turning and Milling

Computer numerical control (CNC) machining uses computer-guided machine tools such as mills, routers, lathes, and grinders to create precision parts with a high rate of repeatability. At Chapter 2 Incorporated, we use our CNC turning and milling capabilities to provide an extensive portfolio of services, including milling, turning, tooling, fixturing, and polishing.

Fabrication and Welding From Chapter 2 Incorporated

Since 1973, Chapter 2 Incorporated has been dedicated to offering high-quality metal fabrication services that support numerous industries and applications. We have developed a reputation for offering quick turnarounds, competitively priced products, and customer service that exceeds expectations.

Our metal fabrication specialists custom produce and assemble a wide range of goods including frames, carts, racking systems, structural and removable store fronts, and multiple types of assemblies. Using metal up to 1-inch thick, we can weld, torch, punch, sheer, plasma cut and water jet cut non- metal materials.

Our Natchi 6-axis robot applies Accustream waterjet technology to seamlessly cut through intricate designs, with pressures up to 60,000 psi. We are also able to drill, mill and saw metals up to 25 ft long and 25 ft wide, with weights up to 2,000 lbs. Our minimum tolerance is +/- 0.002 inches.
